Our newest layout takes you on a journey through North America, where the landscape shifts between lush farmland, deep forests, majestic mountains, and arid deserts. The American layout was inaugurated in June 2025 and is fully operational from a technical perspective – but the scenery will continue to be expanded over the coming months, so there is always something new to discover.
Rolling Stock and Traffic
On the layout, you can experience some of the most iconic trains from 1940s and 1950s America – the era when diesel locomotives like the F7 and E8 began to replace the steam engines. Several of the famous “name trains,” such as the Hiawatha, the Super Chief, and the Empire Builder, travel through the landscapes like small luxury hotels on rails, complete with restaurants, sleeping cars, and panoramic views.
Freight traffic also plays a major role on the tracks. Long freight trains glide slowly through the scenery – just like in the real United States, where the railway still carries a large share of goods transport. On most days, there are usually five large trains in operation, which we rotate regularly, so there are always new cars and locomotives on display from our extensive collection.
